About Hoisting Hope, Heading to Healing Program

“Hoisting Hope, Heading to Healing” is a psychological intervention program jointly developed by National Cancer Center, Korea
Seoul National University Children’s Hospital, and the Trees and Forest Psychological Counseling Center,
as a part of a HEALTHCARE PROJECT for Cancer Patients,
supported by both Ministry of Health and Welfare, and National Cancer Center, Korea.

“Hoisting Hope, Heading to Healing” is an individually delivered program that supports young cancer patients and their caregivers — through diagnosis and the whole trajectory of cancer treatment.

Background and Objectives

Childhood cancer is increasingly managed as a chronic condition,
and survivors—from diagnosis onward—face persistent psychosocial challenges together with their families.
In response to these challenges, our research team has developed
a psychological intervention program.
The main goal of the patient and survivor program is to ease the psychological stress that can arise during treatment and the return to daily life, and also includes training to support executive function.
For the caregiver program, its goal is to provide psychological support and parenting-skills training to improve caregiver quality of life.
